A little about Velia Juarez,
|
Truly "out of the box" thinking!
According to Juarez, about 98% of the wigs and toppers need to be thinned, cut, or styled or streamed. Steaming removes the “box hair” and changes the memory of the wig which allows it to look more like real hair. She also hand sews the wigs to ensure they are perfect. Then, she goes out to private residences, as well as hospitals, to ensure the wigs fit and look perfect when she finally turns them over to the client.
In March, the television show TLC also felt Juarez’s work was significant. They contacted her to be on the show Lost in Translation where she helped to make over a transgender guest. The episode was filmed in her suite.
Following the TLC airing, Sand One, a well-known female muralist reached out to acquire Juarez’s services too. However, it didn’t stop there. Rappers Vel the Wonder and Reverie recently became clients as well. Now, Juarez has seen her wigs worn by some celebs on their travels abroad. “It’s funny, I’ve never been to Costa Rica, but my work been there”!
Wigs by Vee is also driven by the love she has for her family. She explains that her parents couldn’t afford to send her to college. Her goal is to ensure that her three-year old son can attend any University that he chooses. When breast cancer awareness month comes around every year, Wigs by Vee is a major contributor to many organizations supporting cancer research and does everything she can to help the cause.
